Thank You to Our Families

We would like to thank all our wonderful Swans families for the invaluable role you play in your children's education. Your support and partnership help create the positive learning environment that makes our school so special, from ensuring children arrive on time and in the correct uniform to supporting homework, healthy routines and encouraging them to be the very best they can be.

Recently, Mr Rob had the opportunity to meet with students applying for scholarships across a range of year groups. Listening to them speak passionately about their school, their ambitions and their ideas for the future was a powerful reminder of how fortunate we are to work with such thoughtful and motivated young people.

Celebrating Talent and Creativity

Music, drama, art and performance have once again been at the heart of life at Swans this term. From our youngest performers taking to the stage for the very first time to our older students entertaining audiences with confidence and skill, it has been a wonderful celebration of creativity across the whole school.

Our Early Years and Foundation Stage children delighted audiences with their wonderful production of The Smartest Giant in Town. It was difficult to believe that such young children could deliver such a confident, engaging and joyful performance. Their acting, singing and dancing reflected weeks of hard work and enthusiasm, making everyone incredibly proud.

Our Key Stage One and Key Stage Two pupils also treated families to wonderful end-of-year performances, celebrating their musical talents and bringing the academic year to a joyful close.

The Summer Gala once again brought together students, staff and families in a wonderful celebration of our community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a memorable evening.

Our Primary pupils were, as always, beautifully prepared by Miss Janice for their performance. It was a particularly poignant occasion as it marked her final Summer Gala before her retirement. Mr Tim Pritchard and Mr Daniel Verry also prepared our Secondary students superbly, giving them the confidence to perform in front of such a large audience, a testament to their dedication and commitment to developing our students' musical talents.

June is always a special month for the Arts at Swans. Our annual Arts Exhibition, organised by Mr Malachi and Mr Phillippe, showcased exceptional artwork from both Primary and Secondary students, while the Year 12 band provided the perfect musical backdrop. It was wonderful to see our younger artists exhibiting alongside their older peers, celebrating creativity across the whole school. It continues to be inspiring to see the growth and popularity of Art at Swans and the emerging talent of our future IB artists.

Battle of the Bands once again proved to be one of the highlights of the year. Our Year 8 and Year 9 students demonstrated the results of months of dedication and rehearsal, performing with confidence and enthusiasm. Huge credit must go to our Music Department for inspiring so many students to discover a love of music and performance.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Some of the most memorable learning experiences take place beyond the classroom, allowing students to develop confidence, leadership, curiosity and teamwork.

Our Primary School Council has continued to make an outstanding contribution to school life. Representatives from Years 2 to 5 have taken ownership of elements of our School Development Plan, helping introduce the Quiet Area, the Good Manners Table at lunchtime, lunchtime library sessions, Funky Friday, basketball activities and additional shade over the playground, all of which have had a positive impact on our school community.

Innovation continued to flourish in Secondary through our exciting Rocket Car competition. Led by Dr Darren York, Year 7 students watched their engineering designs come to life while developing creativity, problem-solving skills and an interest in engineering.

Our annual Science Fair also encouraged students to think scientifically while presenting their experiments professionally to parents and staff. The confidence shown by every participant was inspiring, and our thanks go to Miss Carly and her team for nurturing such enthusiasm for science.

Meanwhile, our Key Stage Three students have enjoyed their end-of-year residential trips, creating memories and friendships that will stay with them for years to come. 

Milestones Worth Celebrating

As another academic year draws to a close, we have celebrated many important milestones across the school.

Year 6 pupils celebrated an important milestone during their Leavers' Assembly, marking the end of their Primary years and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Secondary. Families enjoyed a heartfelt celebration featuring performances, poetry readings, singing and a special video capturing the two-day transition programme, during which pupils took part in Art, Drama and Science activities while getting to know their new teachers and classmates. It was a fitting celebration of all they have achieved in Primary and an exciting glimpse of the opportunities that await them in Secondary.

We were proud to celebrate our Year 13 Graduation Ceremony at Finca La Concepción. It was an emotional evening as families reflected on journeys that, for many students, began when they were just toddlers at Swans. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and look forward to seeing them embark on exciting futures at universities including Imperial College London, King's College London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Amsterdam, Leiden University, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Universidad de Navarra. We eagerly await this year's IB results and wish them every success.

Year 11 students also celebrated the completion of their (I)GCSE examinations during our Celebration Assembly before beginning the next stage of their journey into Sixth Form.

In Primary, our Final Assembly gave us the opportunity to reflect on another wonderful year together. Students were recognised through certificates for demonstrating the values we strive to instil every day. It was a fitting celebration of the achievements, growth and kindness shown throughout the year.

The People Who Make Swans Special

Schools are defined not only by their students but also by the extraordinary people who dedicate their lives to educating and supporting them.

This year we say farewell to two remarkable members of our Primary team.

Miss Janice retires after over thirty five years at Swans. Throughout her career she has inspired generations of children through music, helping them discover the joy of singing together while also being an exceptional classroom teacher. Although she will be greatly missed, she leaves behind a lasting musical legacy that will continue for many years.

Miss Sarah also retires after more than forty years of dedicated service to Swans. Many of our current parents were once taught by her in Early Years, and more recently she has supported countless children through the Learning Support Department. Her kindness, warmth and unwavering commitment have touched generations of Swans families.

To honour their remarkable contribution, we were delighted to dedicate two new annual awards during our Final Assembly. The Kindness Trophy celebrates Miss Sarah's compassion and care, while the Performing Arts Trophy recognises Miss Janice's lifelong passion for music and creativity. These awards will continue to celebrate the values they have inspired for generations to come.

Gracias a nuestras familias

Queremos expresar nuestro más sincero agradecimiento a todas las familias de Swans por el papel tan importante que desempeñan en la educación de sus hijos. Su apoyo y colaboración son fundamentales para crear el entorno de aprendizaje positivo que hace de nuestro colegio un lugar tan especial, desde asegurarse de que los alumnos lleguen con puntualidad y con el uniforme correcto hasta apoyar en las tareas escolares, fomentar hábitos saludables y animarles a dar siempre lo mejor de sí mismos.

Recientemente, Mr Rob Maldonado tuvo la oportunidad de reunirse con los alumnos que optan a las becas en diferentes cursos. Escucharles hablar con tanta ilusión sobre su paso por el colegio, sus objetivos y sus planes de futuro fue un claro reflejo del talento, la madurez y la motivación que caracterizan a nuestros estudiantes, y un recordatorio del privilegio que supone formar parte de su trayectoria.

Celebrando el talento y la creatividad

La música, el teatro, el arte y las artes escénicas han vuelto a ocupar un lugar muy especial en la vida de Swans durante este trimestre. Desde nuestros alumnos más pequeños, que se subieron al escenario por primera vez, hasta nuestros estudiantes mayores, que cautivaron al público con su confianza y talento, ha sido una magnífica celebración de la creatividad en toda la comunidad escolar.

Los alumnos de Early Years y Foundation Stage deleitaron al público con su maravillosa representación de The Smartest Giant in Town. Resultaba difícil creer que alumnos tan pequeños pudieran ofrecer una actuación tan segura, entrañable y tan llena de alegría. Su interpretación, canto y baile fueron el reflejo de semanas de esfuerzo, ilusión y dedicación, llenándonos a todos de un enorme orgullo.

Nuestros alumnos de Key Stage One y Key Stage Two también ofrecieron a sus familias unas magníficas actuaciones de fin de curso, en las que demostraron su talento musical y pusieron un broche de oro lleno de alegría al curso académico.

La Gala de Verano  volvió a reunir a alumnos, personal y familias en una magnífica celebración de nuestra comunidad. Gracias a todos los que nos acompañaron y contribuyeron a hacer de esta una velada tan especial e inolvidable.
Nuestros alumnos de Primaria ofrecieron una magnífica actuación gracias a la excelente preparación de Miss Janice. Fue una ocasión especialmente emotiva, ya que esta sería su última Gala de Verano antes de su jubilación. Mr Tim Pritchard y Mr Daniel Verry también prepararon de forma excepcional a nuestros alumnos de Secundaria, dándoles la confianza necesaria para actuar ante un público tan numeroso, reflejo de su dedicación y compromiso con el desarrollo del talento musical de nuestros estudiantes.

Junio siempre es un mes muy especial para las Artes en Swans. Nuestra Exposición Anual de Arte, organizada por Mr Malachi y Mr Phillippe, reunió una magnífica selección de obras realizadas por alumnos de Primaria y Secundaria, mientras que la banda de Year 12 puso el acompañamiento musical perfecto a la velada. Fue un verdadero placer ver a nuestros artistas más jóvenes exponer sus trabajos junto a los de sus compañeros mayores, como muestra del talento creativo de toda la comunidad escolar. Resulta inspirador comprobar el creciente interés por el Arte en Swans y el talento emergente de nuestros futuros alumnos del Programa del Diploma del IB.

Battle of the Bands volvió a ser uno de los momentos más destacados del año. Nuestros alumnos de Year 8 y Year 9 demostraron el resultado de meses de dedicación y ensayos, actuando con confianza, entusiasmo y un gran talento. Nuestro más sincero reconocimiento al Departamento de Música por inspirar a tantos alumnos a descubrir y desarrollar su pasión por la música y las artes escénicas.

Aprender más allá del aula

Algunas de las experiencias de aprendizaje más memorables tienen lugar más allá del aula, brindando a los alumnos la oportunidad de desarrollar su confianza, liderazgo, curiosidad y capacidad de trabajo en equipo.

Nuestro Consejo Escolar de Primaria ha seguido desempeñando un papel destacado en la vida del colegio. Los representantes de Year 2 a Year 5 han asumido la responsabilidad de impulsar diferentes iniciativas incluidas en nuestro Plan de Desarrollo Escolar, contribuyendo a la creación de la Zona Tranquila, la Mesa de los Buenos Modales durante el almuerzo, la apertura de la biblioteca en la hora del almuerzo, Funky Friday, las actividades de baloncesto y la instalación de zonas de sombra adicionales en el patio. Todas estas iniciativas han tenido un impacto muy positivo en nuestra comunidad escolar.

La innovación siguió siendo protagonista en Secundaria gracias a nuestra emocionante competición de Rocket Cars. Dirigida por Dr Darren York, los alumnos de Year 7 vieron cómo sus diseños de ingeniería cobraban vida, al tiempo que desarrollaban su creatividad, su capacidad para resolver problemas y su interés por la ingeniería.

Nuestra Feria de las Ciencias anual también brindó a los alumnos la oportunidad de desarrollar su pensamiento científico mientras presentaban sus experimentos con profesionalidad ante familias y personal del colegio. La confianza y seguridad demostradas por todos los participantes fueron verdaderamente inspiradoras, y queremos expresar nuestro agradecimiento a Miss Carly y a todo su equipo por despertar un entusiasmo tan extraordinario por la ciencia.

Por su parte, nuestros alumnos de Key Stage Three disfrutaron de sus viajes de fin de curso, creando recuerdos y fortaleciendo amistades que perdurarán durante muchos años.

Hitos que merece la pena celebrar

A medida que otro curso académico llega a su fin, hemos celebrado numerosos momentos importantes en toda la comunidad escolar.

Los alumnos de Year 6 celebraron un hito muy especial durante su Leavers' Assembly, marcando el final de su etapa en Primaria y el comienzo de un emocionante nuevo capítulo en Secundaria. Las familias disfrutaron de una entrañable celebración que incluyó actuaciones, recitales de poesía, canciones y un vídeo muy especial que recogía el programa de transición de dos días, durante el cual los alumnos participaron en actividades de Arte, Teatro y Ciencias mientras conocían a sus nuevos profesores y compañeros.

Fue una emotiva celebración de todo lo que han logrado durante su etapa en Primaria y, al mismo tiempo, una ilusionante mirada a las muchas oportunidades que les esperan en Secundaria.

Celebramos con gran orgullo la Ceremonia de Graduación de Year 13, celebrada en Finca La Concepción. Fue una velada muy emotiva en la que las familias recordaron el recorrido de muchos de nuestros alumnos, quienes comenzaron su andadura en Swans siendo apenas unos niños.

Nos sentimos enormemente orgullosos de todo lo que han conseguido y esperamos con ilusión verles emprender una nueva etapa en prestigiosas universidades como Imperial College London, King's College London, The University of Edinburgh, The University of Amsterdam, Leiden University, Universidad Complutense de Madrid y Universidad de Navarra. Esperamos con entusiasmo los resultados del IB de este año y les deseamos el mayor de los éxitos en esta nueva etapa.

Los alumnos de Year 11 también celebraron la finalización de sus exámenes de (I)GCSE durante nuestra Celebration Assembly, antes de comenzar la siguiente etapa de su trayectoria educativa en Sixth Form.

En Primaria, nuestra Final Assembly nos brindó la oportunidad de reflexionar juntos sobre otro maravilloso año. Los alumnos recibieron certificados, trofeos y premios en reconocimiento a los valores que se esfuerzan por demostrar cada día y que, como colegio, promovemos con orgullo. Fue una emotiva celebración de sus logros, de su crecimiento personal y de la amabilidad que han demostrado a lo largo del curso.

Las personas que hacen de Swans un lugar tan especial

Las escuelas no solo se definen por sus alumnos, sino también por las personas extraordinarias que dedican su vida a educarlos, guiarlos y acompañarlos en su crecimiento.

Este año nos despedimos de dos miembros muy queridos del equipo de Primaria.

Miss Janice se jubila tras más de treinta y cinco años en Swans. A lo largo de su trayectoria ha inspirado a generaciones de niños a través de la música, transmitiéndoles la alegría de cantar juntos, además de ser una excelente profesora. Aunque la echaremos muchísimo de menos, deja un legado musical que seguirá formando parte de Swans durante muchos años.

Miss Sarah también se jubila tras más de cuarenta años de dedicación a Swans. Muchos de nuestros actuales padres y madres fueron alumnos suyos en Early Years y, más recientemente, han acompañado a innumerables niños desde el Departamento de Learning Support. Su amabilidad, cercanía y compromiso inquebrantable han dejado una huella imborrable en generaciones de familias de Swans.

Como reconocimiento a su extraordinaria contribución, durante nuestra Final Assembly tuvimos el placer de presentar dos nuevos premios anuales en su honor. El Kindness Trophy rinde homenaje a la amabilidad y el cariño que siempre han caracterizado a Miss Sarah, mientras que el Performing Arts Trophy reconoce la pasión de toda una vida de Miss Janice por la música y la creatividad. Estos premios seguirán celebrando los valores que ambas han transmitido e inspirado durante generaciones.
