Dear Swans families,

My first term as Headteacher has come to an end and it fills my heart with warmth and pride at all the wonderful moments we have shared. Thank you for arriving each day with smiles on your faces and for ensuring your children are smart and ready for the day ahead. There have been so many highlights, but I would like to mention a few of our festive favourites.

The Christmas Fayre was another great success, and we hope you enjoyed the performances from the children in Years 2 to 5, our Year 4 and Year 5 choir, and our talented dance group. Our thanks go to María Maganto for organising the event, as well as to our administration staff, kitchen staff, teachers, and to all of you for joining us.  Watch the video here.

The Year 5 performance of “A Christmas Carol” at the Little Swans Theatre was spectacular. The singing, supported by the Year 4 choir members, was full of festive joy. Every year, I am amazed by our children’s ability to perform such a professional show. A huge thank you to the children, and to Year 5 teachers for their creativity, patience and enthusiasm, as well as the staff who supported them along the way.

Christmaths is yet another firm favourite! Teams of enthusiastic young mathematicians from Key Stage 2 represented each of the four houses, and some of our brave parents dared to join in too. Although the teachers’ team were hoping for a win this year , the children were just too good! Congratulations to the winning team, the Falcons!

The Royal School of Music visited us to perform live Christmas music for the whole school, adding even more sparkle to the atmosphere in Primary. Another very special tradition at this time of year is when our Year 4 and Year 5 choir visits a local senior care home. It is a truly heartwarming moment that brings old and young together to share this special season through song.

This year we introduced an informal Christmas sing-along with our youngest children in Early Years and Reception and their parents. It was a beautiful moment watching our little ones communicate and express themselves through music.

We ended the year with our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 singing performances. The children never fail to impress and such incredible singing could not happen without the dedication of Miss Janice. Singing is such an important part of life at Swans Primary!

Although I recognise the efforts of all our amazing children, I would like to offer special congratulations to those who have received the Head Teacher’s Award this half term:

Thank you all for making Swans Primary such a special place, alongside our caring and talented teachers and staff. I wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year, and I look forward to seeing you all again on Thursday 8th January.

Queridas familias de Swans:

Mi primer trimestre como directora ha llegado a su fin y mi corazón se llena de calidez y orgullo por todos los maravillosos momentos que hemos compartido. Gracias por venir cada día con una sonrisa y por asegurarse de que sus hijos estén preparados para el día que les espera. Ha habido muchos momentos especiales, pero me gustaría mencionar algunos de nuestros eventos favoritos.

La Feria de Navidad fue otro gran éxito, y esperamos que disfrutasen escuchando a los niños de Year 2 a Year 5 cantar, así como al coro de Year 4 y Year 5 y el grupo de baile. Un enorme agradecimiento a María Maganto por organizar el evento, y a nuestro personal de administración, personal de cocina, los profesores y a todos ustedes por unirse para crear una comunidad como ninguna otra.

Nuestros alumnos de Year 5 representaron “A Christmas Carol” en el Little Swans Theatre y fue espectacular. Estuvieron acompañados por el coro de Year 4 y las canciones estuvieron llenas de espíritu navideño. Cada año, me sorprende la capacidad de nuestros niños para realizar un espectáculo tan profesional. Un enorme agradecimiento a los profesores de Year 5 por su creatividad, paciencia y entusiasmo, así como al personal que los apoyó en el proceso.

Christmaths fue otro de los favoritos de este trimestre. Equipos de jóvenes y entusiastas matemáticos de Key Stage 2 representaron a cada una de las cuatro casas, y algunos de nuestros valientes padres se atrevieron a participar también. Aunque el equipo de profesores esperaba ganar este año, ¡los niños fueron demasiado buenos! Enhorabuena al equipo ganador, los Falcons.

El Royal School of Music nos visitó para ofrecer música navideña en directo para todo el colegio, añadiendo aún más brillo al ambiente festivo en Primaria. Otra tradición muy especial en esta época del año es la visita de nuestro coro de Year 4 y Year 5 a una residencia local de mayores. Es un momento verdaderamente conmovedor que une a mayores y pequeños para compartir esta época tan especial a través de la música.

Este año introdujimos una sesión familiar de canto con nuestros alumnos más pequeños de Early Years y Reception y sus familias. Fue un momento precioso, ver a nuestros pequeños comunicarse y expresarse a través de la música.

Aunque reconozco el esfuerzo de todos nuestros increíbles alumnos, me gustaría dar una felicitación especial a aquellos que han recibido el Premio de la Directora en esta mitad de trimestre:

Gracias a todos por hacer del colegio Swans de Primaria un lugar tan especial, junto con nuestros atentos y talentosos profesores y personal. Les deseo una muy feliz Navidad y un próspero Año Nuevo, y estoy deseando verles de nuevo el jueves 8 de enero.
