Educational Stages At Swans

Swans School follows the British curriculum alongside the Spanish ESO Curriculum, which means it is structured to guide students through distinct educational stages, each designed to support their academic and personal development. In addition, within the Spanish ESO Curriculum, we offer specialized subjects such as Ciencias Sociales and Spanish Languages and Literature for both Primary and Secondary Education.

Here's a breakdown of how it works:

1. Foundation Stage (Ages 3-5)
   - This stage includes Early Years and Reception classes. It focuses on early years education, where children engage in play-based learning to develop basic skills.

2. Primary Education (Ages 5-11)
   - Key Stage 1: Covers Years 1 and 2 (ages 5-7). This stage introduces children to foundational subjects such as reading, writing, and mathematics.
   - Key Stage 2: Covers Years 3 to 6 (ages 7-11). Students build on their knowledge and skills, preparing for more advanced concepts.

3. Secondary Education (Ages 11-18)
   - Key Stage 3: Spans Years 7 to 9 (ages 11-14). Students are introduced to a broader curriculum, including sciences, humanities, and languages.
   - Key Stage 4: Includes Years 10 and 11 (ages 14-16). Students focus on core subjects and choose additional courses, working towards their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams.
   - Key Stage 5: Covers Years 12 and 13 (ages 16-18). This stage, also known as Sixth Form, prepares students for higher education or career paths, culminating in the International Baccalaureate (IB) exams.

Each stage is designed to build on the previous one, ensuring a well-rounded education. This progression supports students in developing the knowledge and skills necessary for their future endeavours, whether in higher education or the workforce.
