Secondary School (11-16 years)

Swans School Secondary - Social Playground Uniform

We want every child to achieve their full potential.

At Swans, we provide an excellent learning environment. Our results are testament to this, with consistently high grades at both GCSE and IB level that rival some of the best students worldwide. But we also pride ourselves on the pastoral care that we offer.

An inherent feature of our school is the social and emotional support that we provide to all of our students, which gives the sense of a family environment for both students and teachers.

Our belief is that such support inspires young people to be the best that they can be, regardless of their age or ability, and it is this structure which ensures that, when a student leaves Swans, they are fully prepared for life beyond education.

Even though our school has greatly expanded since those early days, our values remain the same, with hard work at the core of our ethos.

The best feedback that we receive comes in the shape of former students who currently have their own children at Swans, due to the incredible experience that they themselves had. Read our testimonials.

The British standard of secondary school education is called GCSE. It is a world renowned academic qualification that is taken across the course of 2 years.

Swans School Secondary Mr Rob Maldonado Headteacher

Mr Rob Maldonado joined Swans International School in 2008 and became the secondary school Headteacher in 2018.

During my seventeen years at Swans Sierra Blanca, I have been privileged to experience the growth of our community. We have a group of wonderful staff, students and parents who value the high standards that the school sets, not just in academic success but in creating well-rounded individuals. We ask everyone to follow the Swans Code of 'Positivity, Proactivity and Pride', taking pride in everything they do and the way they present themselves, showing resilience in the face of challenge and adversity, and always going outside of their comfort zone and seeking new experiences. The IB Diploma embodies these principles, and our adherence to this code has given our students great success in recent years, with results that rival the top schools worldwide and an excellent set of university placements.

As a teacher of History, I still love my time in the classroom and very much enjoy my classes at IGCSE and IB level. At Swans, we are all teachers at heart, and, no matter what positions we hold, the best part of the day is delivering lessons, as there is no better way to truly interact and get to know the students. I am proud to lead a wonderful team of educators who have been with us for many years and care greatly for our students both academically and pastorally. It is due to them that we maintain the highest standards, providing a strong platform for our students to thrive.

We are proud of the exceptional academic results our students achieve each year.

These outcomes reflect their commitment and place them in competition with the highest-performing students globally.
